Russian figure skater, Yulia Lipnitskaya who won gold as a 15-year-old at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, has retired from the sport at the age of 19.

Lipnitskaya, who is the youngest Winter Olympic gold medalist in figure skating in 78 years, retired due to her battle with anorexia.

The news, which was revealed by her mother in a press conference comes a day after the teenager’s coach Adelina Sotnikova revealed she would not defend her title at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea because of an unspecified injury.

Too bad to end her career this early. Meanwhile, what a record!
