It was a hilarious night for Chelsea fans and heartbreak for Atletico fans as Michy Batshuayi scored a 94th-minute winner to help Chelsea snatch a dramatic victory against Atletico Madrid to maintain their 100% start in Champions League Group C.
The Blues fell behind to a 40th-minute Antoine Griezmann penalty despite having the better of the first half when David Luiz needlessly pulled the shirt of Lucas Hernandez at a corner right in front of the referee.
Chelsea had chances to draw level but saw Eden Hazard’s effort come off the post but were rewarded for their efforts early in the second half when Alvaro Morata equalised with his fourth goal in five days and his first Champions league goal for Chelsea.
With Batshuayi’s winner, Chelsea became the first English team to win away to Atletico and condemn them to defeat in their first European game at their new stadium.
In Moscow, Romelu Lukaku scored twice, Anthony Martial netted a penalty and Henrikh Mkhitaryan hit the fourth as Manchester United defeated CSKA Moscow 4-1 to maintain their 100% record in Group A.
Despite De Gea heroics, Konstantin Kuchaev scored a consolation goal late on for the hosts.
In Paris, it looked like rivals Cavani and Neymar had buried their differences as they showed no sign of rancor in their 3-0 defeat of Bayern Munich.
Dani Alves fired the hosts into the lead after just 84 seconds following a great run and pass by Neymar. Edinson Cavani’s first time shot doubled the lead before Neymar made it 3-0 from close range.
