Sergio Aguero became Manchester City’s all-time top-scorer scoring his 284th goal in 178 games played as they condemned Napoli to a 4-2 defeat in Naples to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

Napoli opened the scoring through Lorenzo Insigne played an excellent one-two with Dries Mertens and steered the ball past Ederson before Nicolas Otamendi equalized just before halftime.

City then led when John Stones headed in off the underside of the crossbar before Jorginho put the score at 2-2 from the spot.

The match came to an entertaining last 10 mins before the end as goals from Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling put the Italian side in a tight situation to qualify.

At Wembley, Tottenham defied all odds as they thrashed Real Madrid 3-1 to make sure of qualification for the round of 16.

Dele Alli gave Spurs the lead after 27 minutes when he turned in Kieran Trippier’s cross from close range, then doubled the advantage early in the second half with a shot that took a deflection off Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

Christian Eriksen added the third in the second half before Cristiano Ronaldo scored a consolation goal with 10 minutes left.
