Legend, Hero, you can call him whatever you want to but that was all Cristiano Ronaldo was on Tuesday night when he scored his 98th, 99th and 100th Champions League goal to subject Bayern Munich to another defeat (that makes it five goals against Bayern in one round).
Bayern Munich came into game eager to get a win with returnees Lewandowski and Hummels starting the game.
However, it was the Bavarians who drew the first blood when Polish International, Lewandowski scored from the penalty spot after Casemiro had fouled Arjen Robben carelessly.
Ronaldo equalised in the 76th minute but an own goal by Captain Sergio Ramos gave Bayern a lifeline.
An Arturo Vidal red card meant Bayern had to play the rest of the game with 10 men as the game entered into extra time when Ronaldo propped up to complete his hat trick and become the first ever player on earth to score 100 UEFA Champions League goals.
Meanwhile, Leicester City’s fairytale debut ended as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid who progressed to the semi-final as the second Spanish team.
Saul Niguez had given Atletico Madrid the lead in the first half before Jamie Vardy equalised in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the debutants crashed out on a 2-1 aggregate loss.
Better luck next time boys!
