The coach of Tottenham Hotspur U23s Ugo Ehiogu has died after suffering a heart attack.
Tottenham announced in a statement: “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Ugo Ehiogu.”
The ex-England international of Nigerian descent reportedly had a heart attack and suddenly lost consciousness at the club’s Training Center in north London on Thursday.
Ehiogu has won four England caps in his time and retired in 2009.
He moved into coaching and started working part-time with the Tottenham youth teams before he was appointed coach of the Under-21 team in 2014. He then moved on to take change of the U23 development side.
The 44-year-old, who was a central defender before hanging up his boots, represented West Brom, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Rangers and Sheffield United.
