That Pizza smell wafting in the air! Shawarma’s looking so inviting and tasty. Bottles of soft drinks all sweaty and chilled! Oh damn! This can only mean one thing; War!
Yes, war between loosing that reprehensible and objectionable weight (pardon the grammar oh; it’s war time) or acquiring it in hundred more folds as if it’s the blessings of Abraham. In this war, there can only be on winner and that has to be you.
To win, here are five (5) weapons for fat-destruction;
- Eggs (Grenades):
Eggs are awesomely rich in nutrients and can help you get all the nutrients you need on a calorie restricted diet. Almost all the nutrients are found in the yolk which where once feared for being too fatty but now are a major comeback as science as proven otherwise. Snack on an egg per day and bomb the cravings away.
- Leafy Greens (Snipers):
Eating leafy greens is a great way to increase the volume of your meals without increasing the calories. Numerous studies show that meals and diets with a low energy density make people eat fewer calories overall. Always have a greedy want and intake of these greens with, a reasonably sized helping of assorted meats to satisfy your taste buds, but also your health too.
- Beans and Legumes (Bullets):
These foods are very high in protein and fiber, which are two nutrients that have been shown to lead to satiety. They also tend to contain some resistant starch. Beans are tummy filling experts when added to any meal. However be sure not to consume with bread (yes we know you loved it as a kid, but let’s grow up now.) Remember to always have them properly cooked abeg!
- Avocado (Missiles):
This is one fruit that is unique and multifunctional. Whereas most fruit are high in carbs, avocados are rich with healthy fats, water with fiber and potassium as bonus. Avocados are perfect as additions to salad, because studies show that the fats in them can increase the nutrient uptake from the vegetables.
- Fruits (Pistols):
Fruits are everywhere and they are usually quite affordable. They are healthy, contain natural sugars, have low energy density and take a while to chew. Plus, the fiber helps prevent the sugar from being released too quickly into the bloodstream, and guess what? They can be mixed. So… eating a full bowl of fruit salad about a half hour before some of your daily meals may help you feel more satiated and make you eat fewer overall calories. Now that’s news.
Remember guys, the war has begun and to win or lose is totally up to you. Let’s go Spartans…
