Makeup brushes are essential in applying your makeup so when they get dirty, it’s a cause for alarm, because it can lead to infections. Bits of makeup oil and dirt and even bacteria get trapped inside the bristles, which can cause clogged pores, acne breakouts, among other skin infections. Hence, washing your makeup brushes should be a regular part of your beauty routine. Here are the essential things you need to wash your brush:
—Baby shampoo or clarifying shampoo
Step 1: Run your brushes under lukewarm water, rinsing out all the residual makeup; try focusing on the bristles and not the handle of the brush, as this can loosen the glue over time.
Step 2: Gently massage in soap. Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and add two drops of baby shampoo. Swirl the brush in the palm of your hand to work up a lather.
Step 3: Rinse the brush tip under running water again. Repeat steps two and three until the water runs clear from your brush.
Step 4: Use a cloth to wipe your brush clean, reshaping it as you go.
Step 5: Lay your brushes on a cloth to dry.
And just like that, your brushes are in great condition to be used for another couple of months.
