If there is anything Cristiano Ronaldo has added to his tricks this season, then it will be his penchant for breaking records.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice on Sunday in Real Madrid’s 4-1 thrashing of Sevilla to tie Englishman Jimmy Greaves on 366 goals as the all-time top scorer in Europe’s five biggest leagues. Nacho Hernandez and Toni Kroos were the other scorers while Sevilla’s consolation goal came through Stevan Jovetic.
Ronaldo’s first goal in the first half which was his 21st in La liga this season and his 400th strike for Real Madrid (officially), tied him with Gerd Muller for second. His second pushed him past the German legend and level with Greaves.
Ronaldo will make history if he scores on Wednesday against Celta Vigo which will put him at 367, one more than Greaves amassed playing in both England and Italy while Lionel Messi lurks behind at 346.
Ronaldo scored 84 Premier League goals for Manchester United before signing with Real Madrid and adding 282 league goals since joining the Capital team till date.
His brace yesterday puts his total goals scored this season at 37 goals.
Meanwhile, Neymar was the hero yesterday for Barcelona as his hat trick led the Catalans to a 4-1 thrashing of Las Palmas in their bid for the La Liga title. Louis Suarez was the other scorer while Pedro Bigas got a consolation goal for the local team.
