Photography just like fashion is about perspective. You get to see the world around you in a different light. Photographers make that happen. There are a few Nigerian photographers that are making massive waves in the African fashion landscape. They provide a new perception of the African attitude that is fashion and by now we should have a clue that it is not all about what you are wearing. It is the essence of who you are. And these guys get that.

Lakin Ogunbanwo

Lakin Ogunbanwo

Lakin is a Nigerian born and based photographer. He first started on this path while studying Law in the Uk. He was initially self-taught but later went to study the art professionally at the Spéos Photography Institute in France. His works are daring portraits, as well as fashion which is usually set against a bright background or Lagos city landscape.

Uche James-Iroha

Uche James-Iroha

Another force to reckon with in the photography landscape, Uche graduated from the University of Port Harcourt where he studied Sculpture. He is described by the Prince Claus Fund, a Netherlands-based organization as the “leading light of a new generation of Nigerian photographers”. He photographs express everyday reality and societal issues that occur between class, social class and gender.

Andrew Esiegbo

A photographer born and based in Nigeria, Andrew started off in photography capturing the development in the country, as well as the country’s rich cultural heritage. He has gained several international awards for his work. Now, he explores different areas such as sexuality, gender politics, football, fashion, religion and spirituality, amongst others.

George Osodi

George Osodi

George grew up in Delta state but lives and works in Lagos. He graduated from Yaba College of Technology Lagos. His works are centered around critical reportage and artistic documentary. His work has also been published in the New York Time, Mirror and Times Magazine. The topics he explores are mostly about the social, economic and environmental exploitation of man and nature.

Shola Animashaun

Shola Animashaun

A graduate of accounting who had to turn his back on his profession to pursue his true love, photography. He has worked with and photographed different top celebrities and brands in Nigeria. He is also into fashion, wedding, travel and sports photography.

Ade Adekola

Ade Adekola

Ade is a contemporary African Photographer that’s gives a new meaning to abstract art. His play with colours and shapes makes one appreciate the beauty in the unknown. He looks beyond reality but portrays reality in a mix of colours that tells a story. He is leading in the new age of contemporary photography.
