Nigeria’s Super Eagles continued to confirm their readiness for the 2018 World Cup in Russia with a scintillating display against the Albiceleste of Argentina.
The Nigeria senior national team surprisingly rallied back from two goals down to claim an emphatic 4-2 victory over the former World champions Argentina on Tuesday night in Krasnodar, Russia.
Argentina took the lead in the 27th minute through Ever Banega from a free kick that sailed into the bottom corner of the net.
Manchester city striker Sergio Aguero double their lead in the 36th minute through his left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal.
Kelechi Iheanacho halved the scores for Nigeria in the 44th minutes from a free kick after Alex Iwobi was fouled by Javier Mascherano.
The second half saw Tyrone Ebuehi, Francis Uzoho and Brian Idowu making their debut.Ebuehi replaced Shehu Abdullahi while Russia based Idowu replaced Ola Aina and Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho coming for Daniel Akpeyi.
Iwobi leveled the scores for Nigeria in the 52nd minute,assisted by Iheanacho before Idowu announced his arrival to the Eagles in a fantastic fashion when he gave Nigeria the lead in the 54th minute for the first time in the game.
Iwobi completed his brace in the 73rd minute as he put the game beyond the Argentines and gave Nigeria a deserved 4-2 win in the game.
Nigeria senior men’s team has always been beaten Argentina in any World cup match that they were placed in the same group.
