Just like the name translates, the Resort 2018 offering from Makioba aims to make every woman feel like a star.

A brand known for flattering, curve attenuating pieces, these new pieces do not disappoint.

The collection sees the Makioba woman in ultra-glam mode, with clothes oozing old Hollywood sensuality and modern red carpet realness.

The name of the collection comes from the Creative Director’s native Kalabari language and thus makes it one of her most personal collections yet.

The range features fabulous floor length gowns, jumpsuits, coats and cocktail and tea dresses in classic shades of pink and grey. A chic palette that allows you to see the brilliant cuts and draping in each piece, and staying true to the theme, filled with high octane drama.

Of course, it’s never a Makioba collection without a strong emphasis on the details, which here are gorgeously done. We have the house signature quirky pleats seen in previous collections but reinvented beautifully each time, sparkling embellishments and beading artfully placed in ways that fill out silhouettes which is a testament to the Creative Director’s design school expertise and love for high fashion. These are clothes that command attention and never sacrifice on glamour while still making plus sized women feel and look beautiful as always.

The brand’s offerings at the recently concluded Plussize Fashion Week (PFWA) was just as fabulous also.
