Another day, another Jay Z deal to further inflate that awesome pile of money he sleeps on. Feeling like music, sports and fashion just aren’t enough, Jay Z is now turning his attention to the world of film and he’s doing it in the biggest way possible. The Music mogul Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter  just inked a major movie and TV deal with the Weinstein company. He signed a two-year overall deal with the Company on Thursday that will give the studio first-look privileges on a variety of Jay projects.

In a public statement for the deal’s announcement, Jay Z commented:

“I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight. Harvey and David [Weinstein] are visionaries both of whom have done this time and time again. I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”

Following Jay Z’s remarks, Harvey Weinstein commented, expressing that:

“Having known Jay on a personal level for many years, we are thrilled by the opportunity to expand our relationship… Jay’s ability to influence entertainment and pop culture has gone well beyond music for many years. He approaches every aspect of his career with both determination and effortlessness, making him one of the leading power players in entertainment history. We already have some exceptional projects in the works and are excited to see what more is to come.”

This won’t mark the first time that Jay has dipped his feet into film and television. Jay previously received production credit on Chris Rock’s hella underrated Top Five, The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and the 2014 Annie remake starring Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx.
