This oil might sound strange to many of us but I tell you, the Babassu oil is an amazing oil that can serve many purposes like health care, preparing food and improving the condition of skin. The oil is obtained from the nuts of Brazil.

The Babassu oil or cusi oil comes from the fruits of the Babassu palm trees that are native to the Southern American regions particularly in Brazil.

A little about the history: A Babassu palm tree grows for up to 20 metres tall and the oil extracted from its seeds are widely being used as an alternative to coconut oil and as a cleansing agent by the soap and detergent industry.

Today, the Babassu oil has also found its way into the personal care and beauty industry because of its moisturizing properties.

Here are some of the benefits of babassu oil for skin, hair and health that you may not have known before.

  1. Skin Emollient:

This non-greasy oil is an excellent skin emollient, especially for oily and dry skin types. It gets easily absorbed by the skin, making it soft and smooth. It can moisturize the skin and keep it hydrated. It can make dry and flaky skin smooth and soft; while it can make greasy skin appear healthy and lustrous

  1. Skin Protection And Healing:

When babassu oil is used in hot weather, it can cool the skin. The myristic and lauric acids present in the oil melt at a temperature the body has. So, when the oil is applied to the skin, it draws the heat and cools the skin. It also forms a powder-like coating on the skin that protects it from pollutants and other contaminants.

  1. Nourish Your Scalp

Babassu oil isn’t just great for your hair. Warm Babassu makes a wonderfully soothing and nourishing massage oil for your scalp. Due to its light weight and the speed with which it soaks in, Babassu won’t cling to your scalp like coconut oil.
If you are prone to dandruff or other scalp irritations, Babassu can help with that, too

  1. Cools On Contact

When the weather is uncomfortably hot outside, Babassu oil comes into contact with skin, it actually produces a mild cooling effect. Not only does this make Babassu great for everyday summertime skin care, it can also go a long way toward relieving discomfort and inflammation from sunburn.

  1. Gives You Baby-Soft Lips:

Forget about buying chemical-laden lip balms. Instead, mix a little babassu oil with some Shea butter and apply to your lips. You will find chapped lips disappear, and you get sexy, soft lips that will be the center of all eyes.

Are you on the lookout for multipurpose oil that you can use not just for your skin and lips, but also for cooking? Give babassu oil a try.
