Shedding weight is not an easy task. You have to be determined, persistent and steadfast to hit the gym every weekend. Obviously, going to the gym is one of the recommended ways to lose weight. However, if you are serious about weight loss, there are certain things you have to stop doing especially when it has to do with food. We urge you to add the following habits to your daily routine and watch your weight happily drop.

Make water your friend after eating

Some people cannot enjoy a meal without taking soft drinks or sugary juices. Henceforth, whenever you eat, always take water because it triggers a sense of fullness. But with the drinks, you will just continue eating and eating until you finish your meal and you will still not be full.

Only eat on your eating table

You should have a table or chair dedicated to eating your meal. This won’t allow you to sit in front of your computer or television forever eating. Doing this will significantly cut down on rushing your food.

Reduce the food you serve yourself

The more food in front of you, the more you will eat, notwithstanding the extent of your hunger. Serve yourself with a smaller plate so that you won’t be tempted to empty the pot onto your plate.

Stop stocking too much junk food at home

Junk food is the easiest route to adding fat. So, try as much as possible to stop stocking junk food at home. You can have cereals but not cake, or ice cream at home. This will stop you from heading straight to your fridge to get these meals when you are too lazy to cook. You don’t stock up fruits preferably.

Add vegetables to your meal 

Whenever you eat any meal, make sure you consume it with enough vegetables. Vegetables are important sources of many nutrients, including potassium, dietary fibre, folate (folic acid), vitamin A, and vitamin C. Diets rich in potassium may help to maintain healthy blood pressure.

Avoid food with a lot amount of carbs

Eating foods with a lot of carbs can negatively affect your blood sugar which can lead to weight gain. Examples of high carb foods: sugar, sweet potatoes, bread, and cookies among others.
