Australian Open Champion, Roger Federer is likely not to participate in next month’s French Open.
The 35-year-old who also missed last year’s French Open due to injury, sighted his ambition to play in the ATP tours for as many years as possible as his reason.
“I need to recognize that scheduling will be key to my longevity. Thus, my team team and I concluded that playing just one event on clay was not in the best interest of my tennis and physical preparation for the remainder of the season” he concluded.
The 2009 French Open Champion’s absence will therefore put the limelight on Rafael Nadal, who has been tipped to win his 10th French Open title this year.
So there you have it Federer fans, he is not participating this year…
