Evra became the first player in Champions League history to be sent off before halftime as he was shown a red card prior to Marseille’s Europa League clash with Vitoria Guimaraes after kicking a supporter.

During the warm-up, the Marseille squad approached the end of the stadium housing their away supporters and the experienced defender got caught up in an ugly confrontation between the players and fans.

Evra launched a kick to the head of one of the supporters and was immediately given a red card which ruled him out from the contest and could face further punishment.

The 36-year-old will now wait and see what UEFA makes of his action.
