It all seems to be more trouble for Barcelona in the transfer market as Borussia Dortmund has rejected opening offer for Ousmane Dembele after the two clubs held talks this week.
This was revealed by Dortmund in a statement in which they did not reveal the amount of Barca’s bid.
The club stated that a move is “not currently likely” as they are still holding on a fee of €130m which the Spanish club has failed to match.
The statement read:
“Borussia Dortmund have held talks with Catalan football club FC Barcelona regarding the possible transfer of BVB player Ousmane Dembele.
“During this meeting, Barcelona’s representatives submitted a bid which did not correspond with the player’s extraordinary footballing abilities nor to the current economic situation in the European transfer market.
“Therefore, BVB decided to reject the offer. As there is no further offer from Barcelona to date, the transfer of the player to Barcelona is not currently likely.
Dembele, is already suspended by Dortmund for Saturday’s DFB Pokal match with sixth-tier Rielasingen after failing to turn up for training in Dortmund on Thursday as it is believed that he is keen to make the switch to Camp Nou.
“Dembele has been suspended from training and matches until after the cup match on Saturday. His misconduct has been sanctioned,” Dortmund said in a statement.
This will come as a big blow for Barca as they need to put the €222 million gotten from Neymar sale to good use before the transfer window closes.
