Borussia Dortmund captain, Marcel Schmelzer has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering an ankle injury following a rash tackle from Freiburg winger, Yoric Ravet, in which he was sent off.

Ravet was sent off for the tackle by referee Benjamin Cortus having initially booked the Freiburg debutant, before the Video Assistant Referee intervened.

Schmelzer who was making his first appearance of the season after overcoming another ankle injury, will miss Champions League clashes against Tottenham and Real Madrid, as well as domestic fixtures within the six weeks.
