If your 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, are all about your job, then you do not have a life outside of work. And this is actually not so healthy. No matter how much you love whatever you do, there must be a balance. Here’s why:

You will escape burnout

If you are all work every time, you will get tired and worn out at some point. Taking a work leave to focus on personal interests and activities will help reinforce your motivation and fire up your creativity.

You will be versatile

If you get out of the 9 am to 5 pm job rut, and do other things, your knowledge won’t be limited to your job. You will be versatile because you are doing other things beyond your job.

There is a reason to go through difficult days

When you have something to look forward to outside of your job, it can drive you through tough times at work with ease. You may fix a weekend date with your girlfriend.

Your life will be more interesting

The fact is that your life will be more interesting when you go hiking with friends, own your business, sit at a bar to chit chat with friends among other fun things to do. But if you are all about work, people will see you as a workaholic and consider you boring.

You will not be afraid of downsizing

For people who are heavily reliant on their jobs and are always working to keep it, one day you will be surplus to requirement and you have to leave. You have nothing to fall back on because you devoted your energy and time on running another company. Try to establish a side business no matter how busy to may be.
