Andela has moved! And Nope, it’s not to the Island.
Leading global engineering organization, Andela launched its new headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos, on Friday, 5 May.
Already, the company has over 300 employees in Lagos and it obviously needed more space.
The new office is named EPIC Tower – after Andela’s core values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration and it signifies Andela’s milestone goal to empower 100,000 technologists across Africa in ten years.
The headquarters now wears a more modern and innovative office design, occupying two floors across four wings in a large office complex.
A trip through the new office boasts an array of features that enable Andela’s developers to function at their highest productivity levels.
Meeting rooms are made of soundproof glass line each wing and nap pods help Andelans reenergize.
Upstairs, a turfed rooftop patio doubles as an alternative workspace for outdoor lovers, when it’s not hosting morning warm up sessions or yoga.
Each wing is themed after one of Andela’s four locations, with curated elements that pay tribute to each location and company history.
At the centre of one wing is a glassed-in conference room, layered with a large semi-transparent mural of Nelson Mandela.
In another area dubbed the Hudson River, a life-size cushioned canoe serves as an alternative workspace.
Speaking at the launch of the now headquarters recently, Country Director, Seni Sulyman says, “Two of the most important things we wanted to achieve with this office were collaboration and transparency. Aside from those, we wanted to create a space where people could block out distractions and do their best work. We also wanted an office that adapts to the work style of our people, not the other way around. EPIC Tower supports our community of builders and creators cultivating their craft and focusing on becoming the absolute best at what they do.”
The renovation of EPIC Tower was an accelerated adventure, completed in just seven weeks during the December 2016 holiday period.
The launch held in a 2-hour popping event.
The programme featured tours of the new space, opening remarks from Country Director, Seni Sulyman, and an introduction to Andela by Nadayar Enegesi, founding team member and Director of Learning.
Legit guests including former ICT Minister, Omobola Johnson, MainOne CEO, Funke Opeke, and US Consular General, John Bray, among others were present.
