The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike is back again and students in public universities are wondering when it will be called off. Usually, in Nigeria ASUU strike can run for as long as 3 months, especially if the government does not take swift action to resolve. Hopefully, this will not take the same route. Whatever the case may be, we share certain things you can do to get the best of the strike:

Get a vocational skill

With the economic situation in this country, getting a vocational skill is not out of place. Such a skill will come handy when you are job hunting or waiting for your NYSC. You can learn fashion designing, coding, makeup and even cake making.

Start a business

Seriously, there is nothing like owning your own business. It even more advisable to start a business when you are in school. You will not be at the mercy at skimming employers. That is the truth. You can sell things to your friends. Just do something legal that will earn you money.

Get a job

You can also go job hunting to earn some money for your upkeep. At least, you won’t only garner enough experience, it will also help have an idea of how the real world works. You can include this work experience on your CV when you graduate. A very good opportunity is that of Hotels.ng that is calling for paid intern to work with them.

Work on that idea

If you have a business idea that you have been wanting to work on, this is the best time to call your friends to work on it. Ensure that the friends you bring on board are willing and ready to work with you.

Attend entrepreneurial seminars

Whether it is on campus or off campus, try as much as possible to attend entrepreneurial seminars. This will equip with the dos’ and don’ts of being entrepreneurial in Nigeria. It is never too late.

Read a book

If you cannot do any of the above, you can simply read a book to improve your knowledge.
