The 2017 inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame were announced in February with Jay Z leading the pack that includes Max Martin, Babyface, Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and three members of Chicago Rock Band namely Robert Lamm, James Pankow, and former member Peter Cetera.

The recipients of the awards were inducted  Thursday (15th June) and the highlight of the event was when Barack Obama helped induct Jay Z, who is the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Although the former President of the US was not present, a video of him inducting Jay Z sufficed.

Jay Z (Shawn Carter) also was not at the ceremony because his wife, Beyoncé, is expected to give birth to twins anytime soon, but he thanked all the people who influenced him on Twitter.

Wow! Congratulations Jay Z.
