We love holidays in Nigeria. It is an opportunity to visit friends and family. So, during this period, many people will receive countless visitors and guests in their homes. If you are not careful, after the visits you will have so much to do. This can be very stressful and you do not want to be in such a situation. These tips will help you guest-proof your home regardless of the number of visitors you welcome. Again, you won’t have to do a whole lot when they are gone:
Guard your entryway or doorway
This is for those whose homes are always open and visitors keep streaming in and out. Get someone to guard the doorway. The job of the person is to give guests directions on where to sit, pack their cars and ensure that no one does anything unusual.
Prepare your kitchen
The kitchen is one of the important places not to ignore when you are guest-proofing your home. Get trashcans, clear the clogs in your sink to prevent blockage and make sure that plates are washed. Also, ban children from entering the kitchen.
Get a shoe rack
You do not want so many shoes littering your doorway. Buy a shoe rack in which your guests can keep their shoes. This will make it easier for them to locate it.
Prep your bathroom
The water should flow, there must be soaps and tubes of toothpaste. If you can provide new towels, please do. Do not forget to remove your toothbrush and towel. This is for those who will sleep over or who want to freshen up.
Remove all valuables
Any valuables that you know can be damaged or stolen should be removed. You can also get rid of any other thing you do not want your guests to see. Lock them in a room and keep the key safely.
Get someone to take care of your kids
The truth is you won’t have time to take care of your kids because you will be busy with your guest. Get someone to take care or watch your kids. They can possibly ruin everything if you do not.
